Title: Zillva
Original Dimensions: 18”x 29”
Medium: Prismacolor Pencil on Cold Press Illustration Board
My dear Vorgue and my dear Zillva, so much to say
about them.
They are my darlings really, I love them both so dearly above all my other
creations, but strangely I have never really felt they were truly my creations.
These are the second set of them, neither have changed, both are exactly as they
were, only here they are somewhat of in colour where as before they were done in
charcoal and soft pastel.
They are from what was the most real and quite likely the best dream I have ever
had. A dream concerning a world called AlterRealm which was a realm that existed
outside the worlds of both reality and fiction, as it was explained to me in the
dream. It was quite an involved dream so to make a very long story short they
followed me back to the waking world. I never saw them in that world just many,
many other fantastic beings, but I know that my Vorgue and my Zillva are the
guardians of that dream realm and they came back with me. I always had the
distinct feeling when drawing any of the creatures that I was somehow betraying
them, they weren't meant to be seen. All but Vorgue and Zillva that is, they
were the first things I knew when I had awoke and the first of the creatures I
drew. The originals weren't ever even sketched. I had woken up from the dream
and immediately started work on them on 20”x28” boards and I finished them both
one after the other before I could sleep again, which was well over the
twenty-four hour mark. The first versions are in my own collection to stay, I
will never sell them and most likely never exhibit them again.
